I already own an earlier version of the Talon-P that was customized by Talon Airguns. It is a fantastic little carbine. I got the upgraded version from Tony a few days ago. I had some concerns with the safety and the trigger but with a few drops of oil, the rifle is getting a good break-in.

It makes no difference to me but I learned that they do tune the trigger with their trigger spring and disable the automatic safety. Like I said, it makes no difference to me but we should always have the gun on safe until ready to shoot.

With that said, they did a great job with the trigger. Smarter men than me don't like automatic safeties. If you are one of them, then you are in good company with this airgun.

I didn't measure the pull weight but it does break clean and crisp and when it's expected.

They replace the OEM hammer with their hammer as well. I'm not sure of the physics involved but it's an obvious improvement the way it shoots.

The target that came with the rifle showed a 5-shot group about 1/4" CTC at 30 yards.

As tuned from Talon Airguns, I shot a 20 shot string with the 25.39 grain JSB pellets with the velocity readings below.

Low: 743.0 FPS
Average: 874.5 FPS
High: 952.5 FPS
Extreme Spread: 209.5
Standard Deviation: 70.3

The first ten shots produced better velocities, extreme spread and standard deviation. That's good if you only want a 10 shot group with an average of 48 FPE. I wanted to get 20 good shots out if the airgun like I have with my older Talon-P.

So by the end of the day, I got the following results with a 20 shot string shooting the JSB Match Diabolo pellets weighing 25.39 grains.

The other pellets that I experimented with were the Predator Polymag, H&N Baracuda Hunter and the H&N Hornet. As you can see in the photo of the rifle with the targets, the airgun was producing decent 20 shot groups at 25 yards.

The H&N Baracuda Hunter pellets were a bit of a disappointment. They shoot better out of my older Talon-P. The JSB pellet produced the best groups.

The ultimate goal of this airgun is pest elimination; primarily groundhogs and raccoons. I will be refining the zero at fifty yards and would like to use either the polymags or hornets for the hunting load. The pellet should be able to penetrate a racoon's skull from that distance.

So I will need to conduct some penetration tests with either 2 X 4's or 3/4 inch plywood. I don't want to spend money on ballistic gelatin.

In my tests with the older Talon-P the H&N Baracuda Hunter pellets went clear though cans filled with corn beef hash at 50 yards. With that said, I'm open to suggestions.

Overall, I give the customized Talon-P 5 stars. I really like the AR-15 pistol grip and the M-Lock handguard. The customized internals really make a difference with shooting compared to the stock Talon-P.

I almost forgot to mention that the optic is the Hawke 4X scope with high UTG rings. Given the distance that this gun will be shot, 4 power is all that's needed. It shoulders well, scope lines up with the eye for an extremely crisp and clear image. That's pretty good for a scope that costs about $110. By the way, I have several of these scopes on my springers and they hold up really well.

I think that this scope if the perfect complement to this airgun. If you are looking for a simple airgun that's light, maneuverable, shoulders quickly and budget friendly, you cannot go wrong with one that's customized by Tony.

2nd purchase from Tony and couldn't be more satisfied. Very Professional service with fastest delivery. I ordered on Tuesday @ 10:00 am and received my new gun in pristine condition Wednesday at noon the very next day. I do live in the same state but seriously, Tony don't F around. I would have no second thoughts buying from him a 3rd time.

Long winded post. also my first post and just wanted to shout out to the team at Talon Airguns. I bought a .22 taipan slash and Tony and crew setup and shipped it out. I received the rifle and was banging steel and punching paper with in minutes of receiving the rifle. Then I decided to be a air rifle smith and let be honest I made some mistakes and had to call Tony. He assured me no problem and he would get me fixed up. I sent rifle back Tony fixed my mistakes and upgraded a few parts. And all I can say is wow !! I truly have a hammer for air rifle shoots little groups and having more fun than I should. It is a little noisier to the shooter, with and without the brake installed compared to my Donny Sumo. I had my wife sit about 30’ away and she claims the brake is a little more quiet to her than the regular end cap (it definitely redirects the gases back), and agrees the Sumo is slightly quieter. The slug impact at 100 yards, on steel, is much louder than the gun though.
If you are in the market for an exceptional air rifle, reach out to Tony, you will be glad you did!

I did the math and it would cost me $100 more just to source the gun and all of the parts to build it myself, let alone the time and ammo assembling and tuning. So I see it as a fantastic deal.
To start off the gun arrived a day earlier than the estimated shipping. Upon opening the case I was blown away with the beauty and quality matching of the Impact. Having a fabrication/welding background, the Impact to me is a work of art! I installed my scope and got to sighting it in. About 5 shots I was zeroed at 50, and then shot some groups all chronographed with a Garmin Aero to get my numbers down.

The rifle arrived well packaged and exactly as represented. Tuning, consistency, and overall setup were spot on right out of the case.

I’ve shot springers for years and years and after all this time I decided to buy a pcp. Somehow I found Talon Tunes and they had what I wanted in stock. I received my most recent airgun from Tony at Talon Tunes a little before noon today, Tuesday November 4. I ordered it Friday morning and they shipped it via UPS Friday afternoon after testing it. I put a scope on it and started testing pellets. No complaints, it shoots great and I got great quick service. The gun was well protected and arrived in fantastic shape. They included the velocity they got for several shots in their testing and a target with the distance clearly labeled. The tune is good with ~8 grain pellets going ~925, ~10.5 grain at about 870 and 13.4 grain about 770 fps. In my tests using just the pellets I had on hand the best groups were 1/4 inch outside to outside with 13.4 grain FX and JTS. I worried a bit when the first shot by me had a lower velocity but I checked again today, the next day and it was right in the 10 shot string. The tune is excellent making the gun totally ready to shoot as-is.

I just got delivery of my new Taipan Veteran2 from Talon Tunes. It was packed really well so the damage from the shipper (crushed box corner) had no affect on the actual Taipan packaging.
